If you haven’t already realized, my name isn’t actually Madness, it is Koran "Kory" Baraka. I grew up in the music industry, since my parents owned an entertainment magazine, which lead me to where I am today. Up until around the age of 16, I concentrated on and interacted with several R&B/Soul and Hip-Hop artists. However, during my mid-teen years, I started to gain a liking towards EDM artists like Daft Punk, Skrillex, and Seed. After watching Daft Punk win 4 Grammy Awards in 2013, I made the decision to start producing music. I initially started producing Electronic Dance Music (EDM), however, 3 years later I moved more towards Hip-Hop as an opportunity to expand my exposure in the music industry. I originally aspired to be a DJ, however, with little success and debates with my parents I decided to take an alternate route and focus on music production. As Thomas Edison once said; “many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” I chose to be different and continue to pursue my passion, which lead me to some of my more recent accomplishments. During the Summer of 2019, I was given the opportunity to connect with several artists, such as Tay-Keith and Lil’ Nas X and started working as an intern for Think It’s A Game Records. Currently my roles as an intern involve marketing through social media, publishing, and Artist and Repertoire (A&R). My responsibilities for A&R primarily include talent scouting, as well as artistic commercial development for each recording artist. For now, I plan to continue building my connections and experiences to branch out on my own.
"I like to be on stage, and I wanted to DJ. However, something was still missing in the EDM phase of my life. It was not until freshmen year of college that I developed my sound and was exposed more to hip-hop".
